Wade punished with one demerit point for Code of Conduct breach

Matthew Wade showed dissent towards the standing umpire, Nitin Menon, which earned him a demerit point

Australia’s wicketkeeper-batter Matthew Wade received a demerit point for a Level 1 Code of Conduct breach after he verbally argued with the standing umpire, Nitin Menon.

The incident happened during Australia’s 36-run win over England in Barbados, where the left-hander wanted to pull out of an Adil Rashid delivery. However, the Australian wicketkeeper didn’t move away completely and played at the ball, which Menon deemed a perfect delivery, not a dead ball.

In the aftermath of the incident, Wade was seen arguing with the Indian umpire, breaching  Article 2.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel. Article 2.8 deals with "showing dissent at an Umpire's decision during an International Match."

Wade accepted the offence levelled at him after the clash. It was Wade’s first offence in 24 months.
