Virat Kohli loves proving people wrong: Dinesh Karthik

In IPL 2024, the batting maestro amassed 741 runs at an average of 61.75 and a strike rate of 154.70, his best ever in an IPL season

Throughout his career, Virat Kohli has proved many people wrong and that’s exactly what he did in the Indian Premier League 2024.

Former cricketers like Sunil Gavaskar and Simon Doull openly criticised his strike rate in the 20-over format and Kohli responded in tremendous style.

The batting maestro amassed 741 runs across 15 innings at an average of 61.75 and a strike rate of 154.70, his best ever in an IPL season.

Even in the powerplay, Kohli operated at a strike rate of 161.5. Never ever has he scored at more than 140 in the first six overs.

Speaking on Cricbuzz, Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s teammate Dinesh Karthik said: “I can write a book on how he was this year. He started okay but thanks to people like Simon (Doull) and a few others, they just really spurred him on.

“And you don't want to see that side of Virat Kohli. I think he thrives on that. He is someone who inadvertently wants to hold on to certain things to do well.

"He loves proving people wrong, and even though he might not come out and say it, it really fuels his passion and he's like a molten lava coming out.

“He's fiery and you don't want to be anywhere close to it because you're going to get burnt for sure because he's done this time and time again.”

Kohli’s next assignment is the T20 World Cup in the USA and the West Indies, where India will commence their campaign against Ireland on June 5.
