Attacking batter Usman Khan, who finished as the top run-getter in the Champions One-Day Cup 2024, continued the display of his great form as he smashed the fastest List-A double century in Pakistan cricket’s history.
The right-hander reached the milestone in only 131 balls while batting for Eshaal Associates against the Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) in a President’s Cup Grade-1 game at Faisalabad on October 5 (Saturday).
Usman, who scored 272 runs in six innings of the Champions One-Day Cup, overtook Sharjeel Khan for the fastest List-A double century by a Pakistani batter. Sharjeel had earlier brought up his double-ton in March 2022 while playing for Sindh against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during Pakistan Cup 2021-22.
Usman (201), though retired hurt immediately after crossing the 200-run mark and failed to beat Fakhar Zaman’s score of 210 against Zimbabwe in 2018 as the highest score by a Pakistani in List-A cricket.
However, the match in which Usman achieved the historic feat ended in a tie as the SNGPL, riding on the back of a century by Abbas Afridi and fifty from Arafat Minhas, also got to 351.
Apart from Usman, Fakhar and Sharjeel, three other Pakistani batters – Khalid Latif (2009), Abid Ali (2018), Kamran Akmal (2018) and Mohammad Ali (2005) have also scored List-A double centuries.
