Australia’s premier batter, Travis Head, will have a very busy summer ahead as he’s signed up to play for the Adelaide Strikers in the forthcoming edition of the Big Bash League (BBL). However, the calendar will only permit Head to play three games for the Strikers between January 11 and 18.
Following the three games, Head and Australia will head straight to Sri Lanka for a two-Test series that’s part of the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) cycle.
This development means that Head will have little rest during the summer, with the India Tests concluding on January 7.
"We understand Trav has a hectic international schedule,” Strikers head coach Tim Paine said.
"But we also know how much he loves getting back in the blue whenever the chance arises, and we look forward to our fans being treated to more of his magic this summer."
Head, who became an overnight sensation in Australia following an epic century against the Sydney Sixers as a 22-year-old on New Year’s Eve, 2015, has been a one-club-man in the BBL, representing the Strikers and the Strikers alone.
He made four appearances for the side in the last BBL season but had a torrid time, averaging 8.5. Head is currently the number one ranked T20I batter in the world.
