The BCCI is one of the richest and the most powerful cricketing boards in the world, if not the most. The money that BCCI generates for Indian Premier League (IPL) TV and broadcast rights is second to none. In a way, they dictate world cricket.
While the ICC is the main governing body, the BCCI is often considered the one that calls the shots. While it is very rare that any player makes a comment on it, a few Australian cricketers, including Travis Head and Steven Smith, shared a light moment in which they weighed in on the whole BCCI vs ICC debate.
When Head was asked to define BCCI, his one-word answer was "Rulers." Right after that, he was asked to define the ICC, for which he replied, "second."
When the same set of questions was asked to Smith, he described BCCI as a "powerhouse." While speaking of the ICC, he said, "Not so powerful," but then he quickly corrected himself, saying he meant that as a joke.
Head and Smith slammed centuries in the third Test in Brisbane against India in the Border-Gavaskar Test series, which is currently level at 1-1. The crucial fourth Test will be played in Melbourne from December 26 (Thursday) onwards.
