Travis Head became the second-fastest Australian to score 1000 T20I runs during the third T20I of the three-match series on Saturday (September 7). The left-hander got to the mark with two consecutive boundaries against Brandon McMullen before his enterprising innings came to an abrupt end at The Grange in Edinburgh.
Head reached the milestone in just 35 innings, bettering Australian T20 stalwarts like Shane Watson, Glenn Maxwell and David Warner. However, Head's feat is still second-best to Aaron Finch, who took just 29 innings before bringing up his 1000th T20I run.
Dawid Malan of England is the fastest ever to get to 1000 T20I runs as the South Africa-born English batter reached the milestone in only 24 innings.
