Top performers in TNPL 2024 thus far

Headline grabbers from TNPL 2024 thus far

Waseem Ahmed (TGC)

The explosive 23-year-old announced himself on the big stage with a stupendous 55-ball 90 against Siecham Madurai Panthers. While he did get underway with a six off his first TNPL ball, against Dindigul Dragons, it was his second game where he showed a complete range, smashing seven fours and five sixes. Not just that, overall, he also has picked up three catches.

R Kavin (SS)

While Waseem has had one amazing game, Kavin has consistently dominated bowling units thus far in TNPL 2024. The 27-year-old batter who had scores of 13, 19 and 25 in the 2023 edition has upgraded his game and how. In the ongoing edition, the right-handed batter has scores of 70, 46 and 16. 132 runs in the season, averaging 44, showing great consistency.

Tushar Raheja (ITT)

Last year, Tushar Raheja showed a glimpse of his potential, representing the IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans when he piled 195 runs across seven innings, averaging 27.85. The 23-year-old came to the party with a 57-ball 81 against defending champions Lyca Kovai Kings before scoring another 20 against Chepauk Super Gillies.

Shahrukh Khan (LKK)

Shahrukh Khan has led the Lyca Kovai Kings admirably well, but his contribution with the bat and ball can’t be forgotten. The all-rounder has picked up three wickets at an average of 11.33, including best figures of 2/18. With the bat, he notched up a valuable 55 in their one-run win over Tiruppur.

K Easwaran (TGC)

There’s no way you wouldn’t have heard K Easwaran’s name till now. The right-arm pacer picked up a hat-trick in Trichy Grand Cholas’ clash against Dindigul Dragons. Not only was it this season’s first hat-trick, it was also the first-ever six-wicket haul (6/32) in TNPL history.

He has picked up seven wickets in two games at an average of just 6.57.

Sonu Yadav (SS)

Just like Easwaran, Sonu Yadav has been one of the best bowlers thus far in the competition, with six wickets in two games at an average of 10.33. The younger Yadav, brother of Sanjay, picked up a five-wicket haul against Nellai Royal Kings and also was a star on the field with three catches.

Not so great yet in the TNPL

Vijay Shankar (IDT)

Vijay Shankar has been quite disappointing in this year’s TNPL, with just 20 runs in the tournament. He hasn’t done anything extraordinary with the ball either, picking up a solitary wicket while conceding 50 runs. This has had a direct impact on IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans' winless streak.

KB Arun Karthik (NRK)

In between TNPL 2021 and 2023, Arun Karthik had an amazing time in the competition with 664 runs, averaging 30.18, smashing two hundreds. But this time around, in the two games, he’s yet to warm his engine with just 21 runs, 11 being his highest score. Nellai Royal Kings would want him to be in better form.

Gurjapneet Singh (SMP)

One of the hottest pace-bowling properties in TNPL, Gurjapneet Singh has thus far failed to take off. The left-arm pacer has picked up just a solitary wicket in the competition, averaging 65 with the ball. Not to forget that he’s conceding runs at 8.12 an over.
