Dale Steyn, one of the fiercest proponents with the ball in his hand, especially in red-ball cricket, will join hands with another lethal pacer - England’s Andrew Flintoff. The duo will lead an England Lions camp in South Africa, starting November 20.
While Flintoff is the Lions’ head coach, Steyn will join the coaching staff just for this camp, reported ESPNcricinfo. The camp will include 10 fast bowlers, including Josh Hull and Pat Brown, two players who have represented the England senior men’s team already.
The tour will conclude with a four-day game against South Africa A, starting December 11. The match will take place in Western Province.
Apart from Hull and Brown, Dillon Pennington, John Turner, Zaman Akhtar, Kasey Aldridge, Henry Crocombe, Tom Lawes, Harry Moore and Mitchell Stanley are the other eight pacers in the squad. Among these, Pennington and Turner have been previously picked in the senior squad, but have not made their debut.
"Over half the squad consists of seamers, reflecting our continued focus on supporting these players to achieve their potential," Ed Barney, England’s performance director was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.
