Stats: NZ script history with a special win after 36 years

New Zealand registered their third Test win in India and the first in the 21st century

New Zealand have scripted history in Bengaluru. Coming from an innings defeat in their previous Test in Sri Lanka, few gave the Kiwis a chance against India. However, the Blackcaps turned up to defeat India by eight wickets, clinching their first Test win in India in 36 years – 13,109 days to be precise.

New Zealand last defeated India in 1988, when none of their current Playing XI players were born except Ajaz Patel, who was one month old. The Kiwi skipper, Tom Latham, was born in 1992.

They now lead the three-match series 1-0 but India can still win the series, as they did against England to come back from 0-1 behind to win 4-1. But for now, New Zealand have achieved a big feat in the context of this match.
