Shubman Gill & Sai Sudharsan shared a mammoth 210-run partnership, breaking numerous records in the process

GT came into this game against CSK with everything on the line. They had to win in order to keep their slim qualification chances alive. 

On the night, captain Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan joined hands and had one of the best partnerships in IPL history as their 210-run opening stand shattered numerous records. Plus, the two youngsters achieved a very rare feat, becoming only the second opening pair in IPL history to smash two individual tons in the same innings.

A record-breaking opening stand

Sudharsan and Gill together had a 210-run partnership for the first wicket. This was the joint-highest opening partnership in IPL history, equaling KL Rahul & Quinton de Kock's unbeaten 210-run partnership against KKR in IPL 2022.

Superman Shubman Gill

Gill scored his 6th T20 century, joining his fellow Indian team mates Ruturaj Gaikwad, Suryakumar Yadav and KL Rahul as the Indian batters with the joint third-most tons in T20s.

One innings, Two centurions

Ahmedabad tonight witnessed one of the most unique occurrences, of two batters scoring a century in the same innings in an IPL game. Gill and Sudharsan joined Virat Kohli-AB de Villiers and David Warner-Jonny Bairstow to become only the third batting pair to score individual centuries in an IPL innings.

Sai shines bright

Sudharsan had a few records to his name as well as the 22-year-old became the fastest Indian to reach 1000 IPL runs, reaching the milestone in just 25 innings. He shattered the previous record of 31 innings, which was jointly held by Sachin Tendulkar and Gaikwad.

Trivia: In Sai Sudharsan's first 25 innings in IPL, the first 23 were double digit scores. His 24th was a single digit score and his 25th was a triple digit score

Also, on the night, Sudharsan scored his first T20 ton. Incidentally, his previous best T20 score also came against CSK in Ahmedabad.

Mitchell's Mixed Outing

Daryl Mitchell had a hot and cold day on the field as the all-rounder bowled his most expensive spell in T20s. He tried to rectify the error by smashing a wonderful fifty but that was unfortunately not enough for CSK to win the game. In the process, he became the sixth player in IPL to score a fifty with the bat and concede 50+ runs with the ball in the same game.
