Shreyanka Patil ruled out of Asia Cup

The Indian offspinner fractured the fourth finger of her left hand during India’s first game against Pakistan

Shreyanka Patil has been ruled out of the remainder of the Women's Asia Cup 2024 due to a fractured finger. The 26-year-old left-arm spinner Tanuja Kanwar has been brought in as her replacement.

Shreyanka sustained the injury during India’s first game against Pakistan. The offspinner got herself injured while trying to take a catch in the second encounter of the Asia Cup, which India won by seven wickets.

She fractured the fourth finger of her left hand but still managed to complete the first innings. The offspinner registered figures of 2/14 as Pakistan were bundled out for just 108. The Women in Blue then chased down the target in 14.1 overs.

Kanwar had a pretty good WPL 2024. She picked up 10 wickets at an average of 20.7 and an economy rate of 7.13 and also scored 46 runs @ 11.50 batting down the order.

India will play their second game against UAE at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Dambulla on July 21 (Sunday).
