The Zim Afro T10 begins on September 21 at the Harare Sports Club in Zimbabwe and will attract many big names in the cricketing world

It is time for the T10 version of cricket to take centre stage in the Zimbabwean landscape. The Zim Afro T10 is back with its 2024 edition, starting September 21 at the Harare Sports Club.

The tournament features many big names from all across the cricketing world. Here are the top five players to watch out for in this competition.

David Warner

Having quit international cricket, Australia’s David Warner is utilising every opportunity that he is getting to showcase his cricketing skills and make money out of playing the game he loves.

This would be his second appearance in a T10 setup. Warmer previously appeared in the Cayman Islands T10 tournament, where he scored two fifties. The former Aussie opener has 12,411 runs in his T20 career at a strike rate of 139.23 and an average of 36.61.

Sikandar Raza

The biggest Zimbabwean player in the league is their T20I skipper Sikandar Raza. A globetrotter, Raza has already plied his trade in almost all the T20 leagues in the world.

The all-rounder has had an exquisite T20 career, amassing 5,057 runs and 143 wickets in 245 appearances.

Dawid Malan

Recently retired from international cricket, South Africa-born England player Dawid Malan also signed up for this T10 tournament. Malan previously played in the Abu Dhabi T10 tournament and, therefore, has seven games of experience in this format.

In T20s, the left-hander has 8,801 runs across 321 matches.

James Neesham

Kiwi all-rounder James Neesham is always a big player because he can change games with both bat and ball.

The left-handed batter and right-arm pace bowler has played 11 Abu Dhabi T10 matches and is, therefore, one of the most experienced in this league.

Charith Asalanka

Sri Lanka’s newly appointed limited-overs captain, Charith Asalanka, decided to utilise his free time by playing in the Zim Afro T10 tournament. Sri Lanka are currently playing Tests against New Zealand, and Asalanka is not part of that set-up.

The left-handed batter, who can bowl handy off-spin, has an experience of seven T10 games, all played in the Abu Dhabi league. In T20s, the 27-year-old has played 126 games, scoring 2,484 runs and taking 21 wickets.
