Shardul Thakur, who played the Indian Premier League with injction on his right foot, has undergone a foot surgery in London by the same physician who had operated on Mohammed Shami earlier. Thakur posted a photo of his right leg with a cast on Instagram.
Thakur was a part of the Indian squad in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 and then in the South Africa Test series in 2023. He was a part of the Mumbai Ranji Trophy side as well and later represented Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. He had bowled in the IPL through regular injections and now has undergone the surgery as a long-term solution.
Being a centrally-contracted player, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will be taking care of all expenses incurred for the surgery and the other expenses in London.
Even though it’s not sure yet for how many days will Thakur be ruled out, with the domestic cricket season being three months away, it’s safe to assume that would be his next assignment.
