Ajinkya Rahane, who led Mumbai to their 42nd Ranji Trophy title earlier this year, will miss the tournament

Sarfaraz Khan has been named Mumbai’s captain for the Buchi Babu All-India Invitational Tournament in Tamil Nadu - a red-ball competition which will serve as a preparation for the Ranji Trophy. The Sanjay Patil-led selection panel announced the squad on July 3 (Saturday).

This is the first time Sarfaraz will be captaining Mumbai. The right-handed middle-order batter made his Test debut during the home series against England earlier this year, scoring 200 runs in five innings at an average of 50.
