Rohit Sharma among 6 Indians in ICC's team of T20 World Cup 2024

As many as three players from Afghanistan too were picked in the XI, while there was no representative from runners-up South Africa

Rohit Sharma, who led India to their second T20 World Cup title, has been named the skipper of ICC's team of the tournament, which also includes three other Indians - Suryakumar Yadav, Axar Patel and Hardik Pandya, Arshdeep Singh and Jasprit Bumrah

Rohit also finished as the second-highest run-getter in the tournament with 257 runs, including a majestic 92 against Australia, followed by another half-century against England in the semi-final. Only Afghanistan's Rahmanullah Gurbaz, with 281 runs, scored more.

Gurbaz is not the only member from the Afghanistan side to make the cut. Skipper Rashid Khan, who snapped up 14 wickets at an economy rate of just over six, and Fazalhaq Farooqi, who finished as the joint-highest wicket-taker in the tournament along with Arshdeep with a tally of 17 wickets, were also named in the XI.

Nicholas Pooran is the only representative from the West Indies. He's been slotted in at three. The hard-hitting batter scored 228 runs at 38, including the highest individual score of the tournament — 98 off 53 against Afghanistan.

Other than Hardik, Marcus Stoinis was picked as the all-rounder. He had an excellent tournament, becoming only the fifth player to hit 150+ runs and pick up 10 wickets. While no South African featured in the XI, fast bowler Anrich Nortje was named as the 12th man for his outstanding campaign that saw him pick up 13 wickets at 13.40 with an economy rate of under six.
