Riyan Parag Becomes First RR Captain To Lose His First Two Games In IPL
The all-rounder from Assam is the fourth-youngest captain in IPL history
Riyan Parag became the first Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain to lose his first two games as skipper in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Under Parag, who is playing the role of stand-in captain with Sanju Samson still not fit enough to field, RR lost their first game of the IPL 2025 against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 44 runs.
They allowed SRH to hit 286, and on March 26 (Wednesday), RR lost to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by eight wickets at Parag’s home stadium - Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati.
When it was announced that Parag would lead RR in the first three games, the all-rounder from Assam became the fourth-youngest captain in IPL history.
However, things haven’t quite gone as planned for Parag and his team RR.
While Rahul Dravid and Steven Smith won their first two games as RR captain, Ajinkya Rahane, Samson, Shane Warne and Shane Watson won one and lost one in their first two matches.
RR are next scheduled to play Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the same venue on March 30.
