Rishabh Pant became only the third Indian wicketkeeper to complete 150 dismissals in Test cricket. The wicketkeeper achieved that feat on December 15, when he took the catch of Usman Khawaja off Jasprit Bumrah’s bowling.
While there have been some concerns over Pant’s fitness behind the sticks after his return, the wicketkeeper-batter brushed off all that concern as the series has progressed. In 41 Tests, Pant has pulled off 135 catches and 15 dismissals, following in the footsteps of his idol, MS Dhoni.

Dhoni leads the list of most dismissals for an Indian wicketkeeper, with 294 dismissals in the longest format, of which 256 were catches and 38 stumpings. Apart from Dhoni, only Syed Kirmani (198) is in the club of Indian wicketkeepers with 150 dismissals, with 160 of them being catches, and 38 stumpings.
With 150 dismissals, Pant’s next target could be to wipe off 49 more dismissals and get past Kirmani’s legendary record behind the stumps. In terms of catches, Pant will have an eye on Andy Flower’s record of 151 dismissals.
