Powerplay dominance
Chitwan Rhinos made early inroads in the powerplay once again, as Rajan Dhakal and Sohail Tanvir combined to reduce Biratnagar Kings to 10/3 in the first 10 deliveries of the match. Dhakal cleaned up Lokesh Bam (0), and Dipak Bohora (4), while Tanvir got the better of Scott Edwards (0).
Butter fingers
The Rhinos were sloppy with their catching as Tanvir dropped Basir Ahamd when he was on just nine. The Nepal batter went on to make the Rhinos pay as he finished unbeaten on 68 off 44 to take the Kings to a formidable 181/5.
Moreover, Kushal Malla also spilt the catch of Martin Guptill (45), which also proved vital. The Rhinos have a catch efficiency of 88.5% in Nepal Premier League (NPL) 2024, the third-worst in the competition.
Too many extras
Things went downhill for the Rhinos after their superb show in the powerplay with the ball. They bowled as many 23 extras in the match, including nine wides and three no-balls to further dig themselves a hole.
Bopara-Karki stand resurrects innings
After the Rhinos lost Eisakhil early, Santosh Karki (28) and Ravi Bopara (20) resurrected the innings to an extent with a 46-run stand off just 39 deliveries to give their side hope.
Routela shines with the bat
Amar Routela came in at six and smashed 42 off 29, which included three fours and two sixes to provide the crowd with a bit of late entertainment. He put on 41 off 40 with Kushal Malla, further showing how tough it was to bat in the latter stages of the game.
