Shubham Khajuria has scripted history with his knock of 255 against Maharashtra in Srinagar on October 12 (Saturday). The opening batter registered the highest score for a batter from Jammu & Kashmir. he scored 255 off 353 runs , which included as many as 29 fours and eight sixes. He broke Ashwani Gupta's unbeaten 210 against Himachal Pradesh in Una in 1995. This is only the fourth first-class double century for J&K.
This is Khajuria's seventh first-class century since making his debut in 2011.
He put on 231 runs for the sixth wicket with Shivansh Sharma to set up a platform from where they are now on the cusp of getting over 500. J&K have scored 500 or more only five times in their history before this game, the last of which was in 2016 against Services in Jaipur, when they hit 612/8 - their highest first-class score ever.
Speaking of the ongoing match, Maharashtra won the toss and asked J&K to bat first. Last season, J7K finished fourth in Elite Gropu D, winning two of just seven matches.
