After an eventful day one, which saw 227 runs and 15 wickets, day two was expected to be yet another moving day in the second Test here in Dhaka on December 7 (Thursday). However, rain had the final say on the proceedings, with the entire day being washed out without a ball being bowled.
"No play possible in Dhaka. Day 2 is washed out without a ball being bowled," the New Zealand Cricket Board said on the social media platform X.
Match officials called an end to the day at around 2:00 pm local time (0800 GMT), with the weather showing no signs of improvement. One of the highlights of the action on day one was Mushfiqur Rahim’s dismissal, with the Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batter being ruled out ‘obstructing the field’.

The veteran batter defended a delivery from Kyle Jamieson and then patted the ball away with his right hand – that is, with the hand he was not holding the bat. He scored 35 off 83. New Zealand appealed and upon referring it to the third umpire, Rahim was given out.
Bangladesh opted to bat first and were all out for 172 runs in their first innings. The hosts lead the two-match series 1-0 after a 150-run win in the opening Test in Sylhet.
