KL Rahul’s horrid form in red-ball cricket continued even as he left the Indian shores and faced up against Australia A bowlers. His struggles against spin were exploited by a rookie off-spinner, Corey Rocchiccioli.
Rahul’s dismissal in the second innings of India-A in the second unofficial Test between India A and the hosts was so befuddling that even the commentators on live stream didn’t have much to say but laugh and quip, “Don't know what he was thinking!"
Rahul left a ball that was hitting on his pads. After it hit his pads, it ricocheted back onto the stumps. The dismissal was bizarre given that you could leave the ball outside off or the one that is pitching outside leg, but to shoulder your arms when the ball is turning in from off stump into your body was something unbelievable.
It was only after an X user posted a clip of former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Moin Khan leaving one ball from Sachin Tendulkar in the same posture that one could believe that this was not the first time a batter got out in such an astonishingly funny way.
Earlier in the first innings, Scott Boland got the better of Rahul on a score of 4. Rahul’s last nine red-ball scores are–10, 4, 0, 12, 68, 16, 22*, 37, 57.
