Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf has been ruled out of the remainder of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 after dislocating his shoulder, Lahore Qalandars have confirmed. Rauf suffered the injury in the match against Karachi Kings on Saturday (February 24) and it is understood that he will need 4-6 weeks to fully recover.
"The medical panel, after consultation, concluded that he needs four to six weeks to recover, forcing him to miss the PSL season," the Qalandars said in a statement.
The incident happened in the penultimate ball of the game against Karachi Kings when Rauf took a brilliant catch to dismiss Hasan Ali at long-off. He tossed the ball away before taking a tumble and injured himself. Rauf, who was the most economical bowler for his side, could not help the Qalandars from succumbing to their fourth straight loss.
Before taking part in the PSL, Rauf was part of the Pakistan side for the T20 International (T20I) tour of New Zealand, where he finished with seven wickets, albeit, at an economy rate of 10.61.
Prior to that, the PCB had terminated Rauf's central contract for refusing to be part of the Test series in Australia, choosing to turn up for Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League (BBL) 2023-24 instead.
Qalandars are already without the services of the injured Rashid Khan, who has been critical to the franchise's success in the recent-past. Rauf's injury further adds to their woes. With the T20 World Cup with a little over three months away, Pakistan will hope Rauf makes a swift recovery and return
