Disciplinary issues have once again come down heavily on Prithvi Shaw’s career as he has been ruled out of Mumbai’s squad for their Ranji Trophy 2024-25 Round 3 match against Tripura. The match, scheduled to begin on October 26, will be played at the MBB Stadium in Agartala.
Cricbuzz, citing unnamed Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) sources in their report wrote, “Both the selectors and the team management, including the captain and coach, were unanimous in their decision to leave Shaw out of the squad.”
Akhil Herwadkar has replaced Shaw in the Mumbai squad. Tanush Kotian, who was selected in the India A squad for the Australia tour, has been replaced by spinner Karsh Kothari.
Shaw, who had scores of 7, 12, 1 and 39* in four innings of two games against Baroda and Maharashtra respectively, was reportedly missing training sessions. Despite such bad form with the bat, the 24-year-old would miss two sessions for every one session he attended even as senior members of the team such as skipper Ajinkya Rahane, Shreyas Iyer and Shardul Thakur attended all sessions.
Defending champions Mumbai have one outright win against Maharashtra and one outright loss against Baroda so far in this season’s Ranji Trophy.
