On Friday (January 12), speedster Prasidh Krishna picked up an injury to the left quadriceps in Karnataka’s clash against Gujarat. Prasidh hobbled off the field after just 14.5 overs in the first dig of Gujarat’s innings after picking up the crucial wickets of Manan Hingrajia and Siddharth Desai in the clash.
Later, on the same day, the speedster was left out of India’s squad for the first two home Tests against England. While the reason for his exclusion from the squad is unknown, it is reported that the injury had a role to play in the selection.
According to PTI’s reports, the 27-year-old is expected to take anywhere from four to six weeks to heal and recover completely, which potentially rules him out of the entire series against England.
Earlier this year, Prasidh made his Test debut for the national team in the two-Test series against South Africa, where he was largely ineffective despite favourable conditions. He picked up two wickets in as many Tests, averaging 65 conceding runs at an economy of 4.64.
India announced the squad for the first two Tests against England, which will be played in Hyderabad (January 25) before a clash in Vishakapatnam on February 2.
