The new National Cricket Academy (NCA) on the outskirts of Bengaluru will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 29, according to a report on the Times of India. The state-of-the-art facility will be inaugurated during the BCCI Annual General Meeting (AGM), which is also likely to be on the same day.
"I had laid the foundation stone for the new NCA in 2022 in Bengaluru. We got that land in 2008. I am lucky that this was written in my destiny," BCCI secretary Jaj Shah had said last month
He also added that the facilities will also be open to India's top Olympic athletes, like Neeraj Chopra.
Shah will send the circular to the state associations shortly to inform them about the agenda of the meeting. With Shah also set to take over as the ICC chairman on December 1, there could be clarity on who the next BCCI secretary would be.
Rohan Jaitley, the current Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) president, is likely to succeed Shah at the helm.
