Perry reclaims No.1 spot among ODI allrounders

England duo Katherine Brunt and Sophie Ecclestone also made big gains following their Ashes exploits

Australia’s Ellyse Perry is back at the top of the list of all-rounders in the latest ICC Women’s ODI Player Rankings after powering her team to the Ashes victory in the second ODI against England.

The 31-year-old scored a steady 64-ball 40 and claimed 3-12 in Melbourne as she moved 47 rating points ahead of England’s Nat Sciver to the number one position.

Perry had conceded the top spot to Sciver after holding the top spot from July 2017 to September 2021 and has not been out of the top two in terms of all-rounders in ODI cricket since November 2014.

With less than a month left for the Women’s ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Australia batter Beth Mooney and England spinner Sophie Ecclestone too have made significant gains.

Mooney’s innings of 73 in the first ODI helped her to reach the top three among batters. The Australian is placed second in T20Is, just two points behind India opener Shafali Verma.

England's left-arm spinner Ecclestone also moved up to third among ODI bowlers following her economical spells of 1-36 and 0-20 in the first two ODIs.

South Africa batter Laura Wolvaardt also moved from 13th to ninth following her match-winning 117 in the third match against the West Indies in Johannesburg. West Indies captain Stafanie Taylor is in the top 10 while Sciver and Amy Jones have also gained one slot each within the top 20.

Australia’s Ashleigh Gardner (up three places to 24th), the South Africa pair of all-rounder Chloe Tryon (up two places to 39th) and captain Sune Luus (up four places to 40th), Tahlia McGrath (up six places to 41st) and West Indies’ Kycia Knight (up sixteen places to 49th) have also made significant gains among batters.

The bowling list sees Shabnim Ismail (fifth), Katherine Brunt (sixth) and Ayabonga Khaka (seventh) all move up one place each while Perry joins them in the top 10 after gaining seven places to reach the ninth position.

South Africa’s Tumi Sekhukhune (up two places to 39th) and Chloe Tryon (up nine places to 54th), and the Australian pair of Darcie Brown (up five places to 44th) and McGrath (up thirty-two places to 52nd) are the others to move up in the latest update.
