Pakistan vs West Indies: Why has play not started in Multan despite no rain?

This is West Indies' first Test tour of Pakistan since 2006

The West Indies' first Test tour of Pakistan since 2006 has not gotten off to a great start. The weather has played spoilsport, and even the toss has not taken place in the first Test in Multan. There is, however, no rain or absolutely no rain threat over the course of the next five days. Yet, we have not seen even a toss take place. Why is that?

It is understood that the foggy weather has not allowed either the toss or the play to take place on Day One of the first Test. According to reports, this sort of weather is common in Multan at this time of the year. The conditions get bright in the afternoon after 1 or 2 PM.

As a result, if the conditions get brighter, the toss will take place at 1 PM local time, and play will start at 1.30. Foggy conditions lead to poor visibility, deeming it dangerous for all players involved to take the field. Since this is not a pink-ball Test, the floodlights cannot take full effect either. As a result, the officials and the players will have to wait for the conditions to improve.

If not, we may not see a single ball bowled today.

As far as team news is concerned, Joshua da Silva has been dropped for this game, paving the way for Amir Jangoo to make his debut. As far as hosts Pakistan are concerned, Muhammad Hurraira makes his debut in place of the injured Saim Ayub.
