Ashleigh Gardner has been cleared of any concussion issues after she clashed with Georgia Wareham head-on in a warm up match before the T20I series against New Zealand.
Gardner, who missed the first T20I due to the unfortunate collision, had left the ground in pain after the incident. She later got checked and was fully cleared of concussion.
The all-rounder has had a bizarre history with concussions, with multiple instances happening throughout her cricket career for Australia. She even consulted a neuropsychologist in 2018 after four concussions in less than two years. Along with Gardner, Wareham has also been cleared of any concussion.
It was good news for the Australian camp which is already troubled with injuries to Grace Harris and Kim Garth, who are not taking part in this three match T20I series.
The first T20I in Mackay was easily won by the Australian team by five wickets, as they chased down 144 with eight deliveries remaining. Phoebe Litchfield was the Player of the Match for her 64* off just 43 deliveries in the chase.
The second T20I will also be played at the same venue on Sunday (September 22), with the third T20I scheduled to be played in Brisbane on September 24. Both the teams will then travel to the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, starting October 3 in Dubai and Sharjah.
