Nitish Rana and Dhruv Shorey have sought No Objection certificates (NOC) from DDCA to play for other states for the upcoming domestic season, according to PTI. Rana has previously led Delhi in a few games, while Shorey finished last Ranji Trophy season as the highest run-getter. Rana also led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 in the absence of regular skipper Shreyas Iyer.
DDCA joint secretary Rajan Manchanda confirmed the development on Friday (August 11). He further added that he intends to speak to both players to understand the reason behind this decision.
"Yes, it is true that both Dhruv and Nitish want to leave Delhi and have sought NOC," Manchanda told PTI.
"We will definitely request them to stay as both are senior players and have served Delhi cricket. But the final decision will be theirs. If they don't agree, we will certainly give them NOC."
"How can we talk about selection matters? It is the prerogative of the selection committee," Manchanda said when he was asked if Rana and Shorey will have their grievances addressed.
Delhi failed to qualify for the knockouts last season, despite Shorey scoring 859. Only Mayank Agarwal (990), Arpit Vasavada (907) and Anushtup Majumdar (867) scored more runs in the competition.
Himmat Singh is likely to take over from Yash Dhull as the Delhi captain, while we may see the end of Abhay Sharma's tenure as head coach of the side.
