Kyle Jamieson still has a stiff left hamstring and New Zealand have added uncapped seamer Ben Sears as a cover for the three-match One-Day International series against Bangladesh.
Jamieson featured in both Tests in Bangladesh, claiming two wickets in 34 overs and scoring 52 runs in three innings.
The 25-year-old right-arm seamer, Sears has featured in six T20Is but is yet to make his ODI debut. He has 36 wickets in 29 List A games at an average of 33.77 and an economy rate of 5.62.
“We're taking a cautious approach with Kyle. We don't want to rush or push him back, particularly at the very start of our home summer,” said New Zealand coach Gary Stead.
“He could play if absolutely necessary but we don't want to take any unnecessary risks, hence calling in Ben for this first match. Ben's familiar to the team environment and it's been good to see him back at full fitness for the (Wellington) Firebirds."
The first ODI will be played in Dunedin on December 17 before the action shifts to Nelson (December 20) and Napier (December 23).
New Zealand's ODI squad: Tom Latham (c), Adi Ashok (games 2 and 3), Finn Allen, Tom Blundell, Mark Chapman, Josh Clarkson, Jacob Duffy, Kyle Jamieson, Adam Milne, Henry Nicholls, Will O'Rourke, Rachin Ravindra, Ish Sodhi (game 1), Will Young, Ben Sears.
