The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have shared that Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna are in the final stages of their rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), and the Academy will organise a few practice games for the duo to gauge their comeback.
This provides the BCCI and the team management a chance to figure out a comeback plan for the Gujarat pacer, who is out of the national set-up for 10 months, after his back injury had recurred during the series against Australia in September 2022.
“The two fast bowlers are in the final stages of their rehab and are bowling with full intensity in the nets. The duo will now play some practice games, which the NCA will organize. The BCCI Medical Team is pleased with their progress and will make a final decision after assessing them following the practice games,” BCCI shared in the press release.
Providing an update on KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer, BCCI wrote, “They have resumed batting in the nets and are currently undergoing strength and fitness drills. The BCCI Medical Team is satisfied with their progress and will increase their intensity in terms of both skills and strength and conditioning in the coming days.”
It is not yet sure whether the duo would be available for the Asia Cup, starting on August 30, with India playing all their matches in Sri Lanka. Further, the BCCI has officially stated that Rishabh Pant is regaining his strength and has commenced batting as well as keeping in the nets. The NCA has put up a wide rehabilitation plan for the Indian wicketkeeper to bring him back to full fitness.
“He has made significant progress in his rehabilitation and has commenced batting as well as keeping in the nets. He is currently following a fitness program designed for him which includes strength, flexibility, and running,” BCCI said in the press release.
