Mushfiqur ruled out of Afghanistan ODIs with finger fracture

The wicketkeeper batter picked up a finger injury during the series opener against Afghanistan

Veteran wicketkeeper-batter Mushfiqur Rahim was ruled out of Bangladesh's ongoing ODI series against Afghanistan. He picked up a finger injury in the first ODI, where Afghanistan spinners ran riot in Sharjah.

After picking up the injury during the first innings, the right-handed batter was slotted at No.7 with the bat, where he couldn’t make a big impact on the game, scoring one off three balls.

"Towards the end of Afghanistan's batting innings, Mushfiqur injured the tip of his left Index finger while keeping wickets," team physio Delowar Hossain said in a BCB statement.

"An X-ray after the match has confirmed a fracture on his left Index near the DIP joint. He is under conservative management and is not available for the second and third ODIs. Further updates on his condition and expected recovery period will be provided in due course."

However, it now leaves Bangladesh with no choice but to pick Jaker Ali as the wicketkeeper as Litton Das is out with injury as well. There’s no information on Mushfiqur’s return, leaving his availability in doubt for the tour of West Indies later in the month.

Bangladesh are set to fly to the West Indies for a tour game on November 15 before the first Test begins on November 22 in North Sound. The Tigers will play two Tests, three ODIs and three T20Is against an in-form Windies side.
