Indian pair Deepak Hooda and Sanju Samson have climbed up the T20I batting rankings

Indian pair Sanju Samson and Deepak Hooda made huge gains in the latest T20I batting rankings following their match-winning exploits in the second T20I against Ireland on Tuesday.

Samson, who scored 77 off 42 balls, moved up 57 places to 144th in the latest rankings updated on Tuesday. Hooda, who scored 47 in the first T20I followed by a 57-ball 104, leapfrogged 414 places to 104th.

Samson's opening partner Ishan Kishan remains the only Indian in the top-10 as he slipped two places to 7th with scores of 26 and 3 against Ireland.

Ireland’s Harry Tector also gained a massive 55 places to reach 66th position among batters with scores of 39 and 64 not out. In the bowlers’ list, Indian pacer Harshal Patel has moved from 37th to 33rd while Ireland fast bowler Mark Adair moved up two places to 43rd.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam kept his no.1 rank among T20I batters closely followed by fellow opener Mohammad Rizwan and South Africa's Aiden Markram.

Among Test batters, New Zealand pair of Daryl Mitchell and Tom Blundell have attained career-best positions following the three-match Test series against England. Mitchell and Blundell, who were involved in century partnerships in all three Tests of the series, are both in the top 20 now.

Mitchell’s scores of 109 and 56 see him advance four places to 12th position while Blundell’s knocks of 55 and 88 not out have lifted him 11 slots to 20th position.

Jonny Bairstow has advanced 20 places to 21st after scoring 162 and 71 not out in the third Test at Leeds, which England won by seven wickets to complete a 3-0 series victory.

England spinner Jack Leach with his 10-166 in the same match moved up 13 places among bowlers to a career-best 25th position while veteran pacer Stuart Broad moved up one place to 13th in Wednesday’s weekly update that also includes the second Test between the West Indies and Bangladesh.

In the ODI Player Rankings, which considers performances from England's third ODI against Netherlands and the fifth match between Sri Lanka and Australia, Australia’s Alex Carey is up by three places to 23rd after his knock of 45 not out and England’s Jos Buttler is up four places to 25th after his unbeaten 86.

Australia fast bowler Josh Hazlewood is in the top five, gaining two slots for his haul of 2-22 and England’s David Willey up three places to 37th after grabbing 4-36.
