Danni Wyatt-Hodge, one of England women’s cricket’s most experienced players called the team’s battle against back-to-back T20 World Cup finalists South Africa a massive series, especially considering that the Women’s Ashes will follow soon after.
"This is a massive series for us, leading up to the Ashes. We want to go out there and show off our skills, and show everyone how good we are,” Wyatt was quoted as saying ahead of the first T20I of the three-match series on November 24 (Sunday) at East London.
The series' importance is also heightened because the England women failed to make it to the semi-final of the T20 World Cup in October. However, according to the 33-year-old batter, just eight bad overs don't make England a bad team, and they want to prove it in this series.
"We've played some outstanding cricket over the last few years, and we played some great cricket throughout the World Cup. We just want to focus on playing that fearless brand of cricket that we've played over the last couple of years, and just enjoy it,” she said.
The series, starting with the first T20I on November 24, will end with the one-off Tests beginning December 15.
