First six overs, I went with my normal game and then the next four overs, I went with my shots. (On the no ball) It was a good option, I got to bat again. I had two chances, so today was my day. I got to 60 runs and did the best for my team.
I have had practice in Sri Lanka for the last six months to a year, everyday I am learning and I know what the team wants from me. Thank you very much for the support, Sri Lankan fans!
In the middle period, I thought it was tough. But when myself and Kusal were batting, I thought it was achievable. I think the openers did a good job, we discussed that we needed that opening partnership for the start.
Today, that was the key and that's why we chased down this total. I thought of promoting myself, but from the team's point, I have to sacrifice to come down and play as a finisher. My first priority is for the team.
I think Chamika's run out, we thought the game was gone. But Asitha Fernando scored those two shots very well, these guys have so much potential. It is lovely to see.
I think a few poor overs cost us the game. In the last over they were 8 down, but they got there with four balls in hand. That shows we aren't bowling well in the death, but credit to Sri Lanka for the way they batted.
I think Dasun did very well. We wanted to pick wickets early, but the bowlers couldn't execute their plans and that's why the spinner bowled the last over. The last six months we haven't played well, but we have been competitive in these last two games. World Cup will be a different challenge now, we have to improve.
We feel sorry for our fans, everywhere we go we get such superb support.

SRI LANKA HAVE DONE IT! Sri Lanka have pulled off an amazing win and are through to the Super 4s. This is also Sri Lanka's second-highest successful run-chase in T20Is.
Needing eight off the final over, debutant Asitha Fernando smashed Mahedi Hasan for a fur through mid-wicket, With three required off the last four deliveries, Mahedi Hasan bowled a no-ball and the batters ran two. Bangladesh played their heart out but have fallen short again this tournament.
Kusal Mendis rasal Mendis rode his luck and scored 60 off 37 and got good support from his captain Dasun Shanaka (45) with whom he put on 54 for the fifth wicket to help Sri Lanka claw back into the game.
Bangladesh were outstanding with their catching, but with the no-balls and wides went against them and allowed Sri Lanka to sneak through.
A collective batting performance took Bangladesh to 183. Ebadot Hossain on T20I debut picked up three wickets in his first two overs, but then things fell apart and he went on to concede 51 runs in the end.
Bangladesh have crashed out of the Asia Cup and Sri Lanka live to fight another day.
A suicidal run-out makes the closing stages of the match even more interesting. Theekshana set out for a run when there was none and Shakib hits the wickets directly to run Karunaratne out for 16. The over was going so well for Sri Lanka before this and the wicket has now dented Sri Lanka's chances. Can Theekshana and Asitha Fernando take Sri Lanka home?

The partnership between Mendis and Shanaka was worth 54 off 36 and looked set to be the match-defining one. But with that wicket, Bangladesh have given them hope. How crucial will this scalp be?

Kusal Mendis rides his luck to get to his fifty off just 32 deliveries. Sri Lanka will hope that he bats through. Shanaka who took a little time early on seems to be back in rhythm after those two sixes. Bangladesh now have the task of breaking this partnership and soon.
Two big sixes by Dasun Shanaka and that too against Ebadot Hossain, who had a debut to remember till then. The first one disappeared over deep mid-wicket and the second one was just flicked over backward square leg. Just the sort of over Sri Lanka would have wanted.

Another short ball and another wicket for Bangladesh. This time, it's Bhanuka Rajapaksa who plays it straight down the throat of the third man fielder. This has been a top-notch bowling effort from the Bangladesh fast bowlers who now have all four wickets to their name.

A huge let-off! Kusal Mendis was out caught behind, but the third umpire called him back as it was a front foot no-ball by Mahedi Hasan. That would have been a huge wicket for Bangladesh as Mendis was looking in dangerous form. The only consolation for Bangladesh is that the free-hit just costs them a single. 14 runs off Mahedi's first over!
A terrific end to the powerplay for Bangladesh as Ebadot Hossain gets rid of Nissanka and Charith Asalanka in quick succession. Bangladesh have bounced back well after Mendis and Nissanka got them off to an excellent start. Pressure now Mendis and Gunathilaka to build a steady partnership.

After taking Mustafizur Rahman's over, Sri Lanka have made the most of Shakib Al Hasan's second over too. Kusal Mendis looks in menacing form hitting 6, 6, and a four taking 18 off his over. The last two overs have fetched Sri Lanka 31 runs. Bangladesh are well and truly on the back foot now.
In the slot and Pathum Nissanka whacks Mustafizur over the mid-wicket fence to pick up the first six of the innings. A much-needed one for Sri Lanka after the first three overs produced just one four. Is this the opening Sri Lanka need?
Sri Lanka openers Kusal Mendis and Pathum Nissanka are just getting the feel of things in the middle. Nissanka managed to get a boundary off a poorly directed delivery from Taskin Ahmed, but other than that, Taskin and Mustafizur Rahman have kept things tight. Sri Lanka should have been one down, but Mushfiqur Rahman put down a relatively easy catch.
Useful contributions from Mehidy (38), Afif (39), Mahmudullah (27) and Mosaddek (24*) has taken Bangladesh to a formidable total of 183 for 7 from their 20 overs. They would certainly take that after they were put into bat.
Shakib too played his part with 24 and Taskin Ahmed too whacked a six at the death to finish unbeaten on 11. All in all, it was a collective batting effort from Bangladesh.
Bangladesh managed to score 60 runs in the last five overs. Asitha Fernando and Wanindu Hasaranga were expensive in the end conceding 41 and 51 runs respectively. Sri Lanka did not have a sixth bowling option which proved to be pivotal.

A brilliant innings from Afif Hossain comes to an end. Looking to clear the fence, Afif finds Hasaranga at the deep mid-wicket fence to being an end to the 57-run stand between him and Mahmudullah. A much-needed respite for Sri Lanka.
Bangladesh can still get to 175-180 from here. The well-set Mahmudullah will be key in ensuring they get there.

Some brilliant hitting from Afif Hossain and Mahmudullah brings up the 50-run stand between the two and it has taken them just 33 balls to get there. Both of them have batted smartly and have run extremely well between the wickets. Bangladesh look like they will get to 180 from here, which will be a daunting total to chase for Sri Lanka.
Some glorious hitting from Mahmudullah helps Bangladesh take 14 off Hasaranga's third over. Bangladesh are well on course to 170 if they keep this up. Sri Lanka will want to break this partnership which is worth 26 off 27, at the earliest.
Sri Lanka have kept things tight. Afif Hossain has hit a couple of fours and a big six already and Bangladesh will be hoping that he keeps going till the end. Mahmudullah has looked a little scratchy but will have to take the long handle.
Maheesh Theekshana returns and gets the Bangladesh captain for 24. Shakib looked to make room and go inside out, but missed the ball completely with the ball crashing into the middle stump. Yet another timely wicket for Sri Lanka.

A brilliant innings from Mehidy Hasan comes to an end after he misses a googly from Wanindu Hasaranga playing across the line. Just when the partnership was looking threatening, Hasaranga does the trick in his first over. An excellent platform has been set for the Bangladesh middle-order to take them to a formidable total.

A brilliant start for Bangladesh who have scored over 50 in the first six overs. That's largely thanks to Mehidy Hasan's aggressive strokeplay. Shakib Al Hasan though has been happy to give the strike to Mehidy, who has been severe, especially on the fast bowlers.
Mehidy Hasan, who is opening for the first time, has played some innovative shots. The latest is a ramp shot for six and follows that up by smashing Asitha down the track. This is a smashing start for Bangladesh, despite the fact that they have lost Sabbir Rahman early.

After conceding 11 off the first over, Sri Lanka pull things back with Maheesh Theekshana. The Bangladesh openers seem to be happy to take ones and twos against the mystery spinner. It's a slow track in Dubai and there were a couple of edges but no damage done.

Hello and welcome to Cricket.com's coverage of Match 5 of the Asia Cup 2022 between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in Dubai.
This is a straight knockout wherein the winner will progress from Group B to join Afghanistan and India in the Super 4s.
Sri Lanka and Bangladesh were handed a thrashing by Afghanistan in their opening fixture and now need to come up with the goods if they are to make it through.
There has been a lot of off-field banter before the match with Dasun Shanaka and Khaled Mahmud taking jibes at each other, but for the next four hours or so, cricket will take centrestage.
