"I am really happy with the win. It was great to see everyone sticking to their roles and plans. We had to focus early, had to keep those things (Covid cases in the camp) out of the mind and the boys responded well. Support staff are doing a great job in backing us and giving us all that we need to perform."

"Have to give credit to India here. They came out and put pressure on us straightaway. We didn't bowl particularly well although we did pull things back well later on. We were happy to restrict them to 307 because it was a good surface. Was always going to be a challenge for us. Losing early wickets put us on the back foot. Maybe we could have been more proactive. But again, got to give credit to India, they hardly gave us loose balls."

India have smashed Ireland and are through to the knockout stages of the tournament. Ireland never looked alive in the run-chase and have lost this game by 174 runs. Joshua Cox (28) and Scott MacBeth (32) did hang around for a bit but never threatened the Indian bowling attack. Garv Sangwan, Aneeshwar Gautam and Kaushal Tambe took two wickets each and Ireland were bundled out in 39 overs. Ireland and South Africa will now face off on Friday and the winner of that game will make it through to the next round.
Earlier, Angkrish Raghuvanshi (79-ball 79) and Harnoor Singh (101-ball 88) put on 164 runs for the opening wicket and got India off to a phenomenal start. However, just when it felt like India would run away with the game, Ireland made a decent comeback in the second half of the innings. In the absence of Yash Dhull and Sheikh Rasheed, stand-in skipper Nishant Sindhu (34-ball 36) chipped in with a handy cameo but Raj Bawa (64-ball 42) wasted too many deliveries. It was Rajvardhan Hangargekar who smoked five maximums in his 17-ball 39* and propelled India past the 300-run mark.

Too close to cut and that's exactly what Scott MacBeth tried. Gets a faint edge and the wicketkeeper takes a sharp catch. He departs for 32 and India now need just two wickets to confirm their place in the knockouts.
Powered by Froala Editor
Scott MacBeth says enough of this short stuff as he goes on the back foot and whacks Rajvardhan Hangargekar over deep mid-wicket for a clean six. One of the best shots we have seen in this game.
Powered by Froala Editor
Aneeshwar Gautam comes into the attack and breaks the 39-run stand. The left-arm spinner got this one to come straight in with the arm and the balls went through the gap between bat and pad. India are now just three wickets away!
Powered by Froala Editor
Finally! MacBeth takes the attack to the left-arm spinner and whacks him for a six and a four. He came down the track and smoked the flighted delivery over wide long-on for a six before smashing one down the ground for another boundary. How long can he keep going?
Powered by Froala Editor
Nathan McGuire and Scott MacBeth are now just trying to bat out the entire overs and the required rate has gone over 10. Kaushal Tambe and Aneeshwar Gautam are yet to bowl and India could try them ahead of the knockouts.

You can't keep Vicky Ostwal out of action for a long time. The left-arm spinner, who claimed five wickets in the opening game, has got his first wicket of the game. Philippus le Roux went for the reverse sweep but it was too full and the batter got pinned right in front of the stumps. Even batting out the entire overs is going to be difficult for Ireland.

Joshua Cox got a short delivery down the leg side and hammered it for a maximum. However, Garv Sangwan got his revenge on the very next delivery as the in-form batter was caught behind for 28. This one was on a similar length but was pitched slightly off. Cox got a decent edge and the wicketkeeper fumbled twice before taking the catch on the third. Ireland are five down, just a matter of time now.

Joshua Cox got a couple of boundaries but this game is already over. The required run-rate has already gone over 8 and the two batters are not even trying to take the attack to the Indian bowlers. The first goal for Ireland would be to bat the remaining 30 overs and at least get close to that 250-run mark. Still a long way to go!

The paceman started with three deliveries way outside off and then dropped one slightly close to the batter. Tim Tector went after it, got a thick edge and the fielder at gully took a good sharp catch. Ireland are already four down and still need 272 runs.
The right-arm seamer was Haryana’s leading wicket-taker when they won the last edition of the Vinoo Mankad Trophy. Sangwan picked up 13 wickets in seven outings and then also emerged as the highest wicket-taker in the Challenger Trophy, taking 13 wickets at a spectacular average of 11.07. His performance in the aforementioned competitions helped him cement his place in the World Cup squad. The tall fast bowler comes from Bhiwani, also known as "Mini Cuba" of India due to the large number of boxers who hail from the region.

Ireland are going nowhere with this run chase and the required rate has already gone up to 7.7. Joshua Cox, who crafted a century in the first game, is currently batting on 3 off 23 deliveries, while Tector too hasn't done much apart from those two boundaries in one over.

Joshua Cox and Tim Tector are at the crease and the onus is now on them to build a partnership. Cox scored a stunning century in Ireland's first game of the tournament, while Tector has started well today with a couple of boundaries through the off-side. Ireland need to make sure they bat the entire 50 overs and get as closer to the target as possible. They can't afford to lose this by a big margin because NRR will come into play.

There was never a single there and David Vincent has paid the price for some careless running. This one was hit straight towards the fielder at mid-on and Raj Bawa picked up the ball with ease and got the direct hit at the non-striker's end. Vincent was never going to make it and Ireland have now lost three wickets.

What an over from Rajvardhan Hangargekar! The tall paceman would have had Jack Dickson twice in this over but the chances were put down. Wicketkeeper Dinesh Bana first failed to grab a low catch towards his right before Angkrish Raghuvanshi dived to his right at gully but failed to claim the catch. Both catches weren't easy, but Hangargekar then took the matter in his own hands and pinned Dickson right in front of the leg-stump. Ireland have already lost two wickets inside five overs.

The Indian seamers hardly gave away anything in the first three overs but Liam Doherty managed to break the shackles by driving one down the ground for a boundary. However, Ravi Kumar got his revenge in the same over as Vicky Ostwal took a good running catch at the square leg region. Doherty wanted to whip this one towards deep mid-wicket but ended up getting a leading edge. The ball went over the in-field but Ostwal ran backwards and made the catch look easy.

Ireland openers David Vincent and Liam Doherty are out in the middle, while Rajvardhan Hangargekar and Ravi Kumar will start the proceedings for India. Ireland will need a good start from their openers if they want to stay alive in his run-chase.

It’s not surprising that Hangargekar has already made his List A and T20 debut for Maharashtra. You have a well-built fast bowler who can also smash sixes down the order, that’s a rare breed in Indian cricket. Interestingly, Hangargekar started his career as an offspinner for the Osmanabad district U-14 team but had to switch to fast bowling as his side didn't have a proper pacer. He worked under coach Mohan Jadhav in Pune and trainer-cum-mentor Tejas Matapurkar at the Veerangan Cricket Academy and soon started clicking 140 kmph.
Known as Marathwada Express, Hangargekar lost his father to Covid-19 last year and it took him a while to get his mojo back. He was astonishing in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy and the Challenger Trophy, picking up 23 wickets in 11 encounters. On top of that, Hangargekar also smacked 236 runs at a strike rate of more than 135. He smoked 17 sixes in 11 encounters, not bad for someone who mostly bats at No. 8. He was also impressive in the Asia Cup, and many IPL franchises will have their eyes set on the flamboyant fast-bowling all-rounder.

A decent comeback from Ireland in the second half but India have got enough runs on the board, thanks to some mind-blowing hitting from Rajvardhan Hangargekar in the last few overs. In the Under-19 World Cup, India have lost only one out of 30 encounters in which they have scored more than 230. Angkrish Raghuvanshi (79-ball 79) and Harnoor Singh (101-ball 88) put on 164 runs for the opening wicket and got India off to a phenomenal start. For Ireland, Jamie Forbes took 1/38, while Muzamil Sherzad claimed 3/79 but was taken down for 23 runs in his final over. 307 might prove to be too much for Ireland!

Raj Bawa has been knocked over and this might actually work in India's favour. Muzamil Sherzad gets his second wicket with a superb yorker and Raj Bawa departs for 42 off 64 deliveries. The left-hander showed no intent whatsoever and have easily costed India 20-25 runs.
Powered by Froala Editor
Muzamil Sherzad bowls one down the leg side and the stand-in skipper got a faint edge before the ball went into the gloves of the wicketkeeper. The left-hander departs for 36 off 34. Meanwhile, Raj Bawa is still around and is operating at less than 70.
Powered by Froala Editor
The left-hander was promoted to No. 3 but has been the only Indian batter who has operated at a strike rate of less than 70. Nishant Sindhu is playing his part at the other end and the two have put on 50 runs for the third wicket.
Powered by Froala Editor
Ireland have bowled with good control in the last 15 overs and haven't allowed India to run away with the game. India have scored 59 runs in the last 15 overs and will now look to up the ante in the remaining 60 deliveries. The Men in Blue have eight wickets in hand and Raj Bawa and Nishant Sindhu now need to go after every delivery. Sindhu clobbered Muzamil Sherzad for consecutive boundaries in the 40th over and that will give India some momentum. There are some big hitters yet to come and India should target to get close to that 300-run mark, especially with the kind of start they got from their openers.

India captain Yash Dhull, five other players test positive for COVID-19 at ICC Under-19 cricket World Cup in West Indies: BCCI official
— Press Trust of India (@PTI_News) January 19, 2022
Harnoor has missed a straight one from Matthew Humphreys and has been given lbw 12 short of his hundred. The left-hander wanted to work this one through the leg-side but failed to get any bat to it and was pinned right in front of the stumps. Both openers are now back in the hut and Ireland will now look to take control of this game. India have hardly scored any runs in the last few overs and the scoring rate has dropped to 5.6. A bit of pressure building on India at the moment!

Is this why Shaik Rasheed and Yash Dhull are not playing today? We will let you know if we get any official updates.

Raj Bawa once again wanted to go down the ground but couldn't get his timing ride. The ball went to the left of the fielder at mid-on who did well to cover the ground but couldn't hold on to the catch. This should have been taken and that would have turned the momentum in Ireland's favour.

Raj Bawa says enough is enough and breaks the shackles by tonking Jamie Forbes over long-off for his first six of the game. This will give him some confidence. Meanwhile, Forbes finishes with impressive figures of 1/38.

Jamie Forbes and Scott MacBeth have managed to pull things back since Angkrish Raghuvanshi's departure. The two spinners have gave away only 15 runs in the last five overs. Raj Bawa, who generally bats in the middle-order or lower-order, has been promoted to No. 3 and the onus will be on him to make sure India don't lose the momentum. Even the scoring rate has dropped below six for now.
Powered by Froala Editor
It had to be Jamie Forbes! The left-arm spinner deserves it. He has been the only Ireland bowler who has bowled with some control and it's him who has finally broken the partnership. Angkrish Raghuvanshi wanted to punch it through the off-side but the ball went straight with the arm, got an edge and the wicketkeeper made no mistake. Raghuvanshi departs for a well-made 79 but looks disappointed on missing out on a hundred. Now, can Ireland build on this?
Powered by Froala Editor
These two have been phenomenal and even Harnoor is now operating at a strike rate of 100. India have completely dominated the first half of this innings and are looking set for a massive first-innings total.
Powered by Froala Editor
This left-hander from Punjab is a serious talent and is showing once again why he is so highly rated. His partner Angkrish Raghuvanshi is stealing all the limelight today but Harnoor too is playing his part to perfection. The left-handed batter is known for getting those big scores and has a superb opportunity to get that big hundred today.
Powered by Froala Editor
The Ireland bowlers have struggled with their line and length and have made things slightly easier for the two batters. Left-arm spinner Jamie Forbes has bowled with good control so far but Matthew Humphreys, Nathan McGuire and Liam Doherty have leaked too many runs.
Powered by Froala Editor
The Ireland bowlers are looking out of sorts and Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Harnoor Singh are making the most of it. This is the second time these two have added 100 runs for the opening wicket and India here would be eyeing a massive score. Ireland need to break this stand as soon as possible or else these two will take the game far out of their reach.
Powered by Froala Editor
Angkrish Raghuvanshi has been ruthless against spinners in this match and gets to his fifty by smoking Matthew Humphreys for a massive six over deep mid-wicket. The 16-year-old gets to the landmark off just 42 deliveries. Raghuvanshi has slammed eight fours and two sixes so far and all of them have come against slow bowlers.
Powered by Froala Editor
The left-hander has smashed five boundaries so far and all of them have been scored through the leg side. The moment Ireland seamers have bowled on his pads, Harnoor has flicked them through the mid-wicket and square leg region.
Powered by Froala Editor
Harnoor Singh and Angkrish Raghuvanshi were dismissed inside six overs against South Africa but the two openers are looking solid in this game. They have been offered way too many hit-me deliveries and the two have pounced on them every single time. Raghuvanshi hasn't allowed spinners to settle in, while Harnoor has gone after the two seamers.
Powered by Froala Editor
After watching Angkrish Raghuvanshi do the majority of the scoring in the first five overs, Harnoor got into the act and crafted Muzamil Sherzad for back-to-back boundaries in the sixth over. The stylish left-hander got a couple of deliveries on his pads and whipped it through the leg side for consecutive boundaries. This is just the start India needed.
Powered by Froala Editor
Nathan McGuire comes into the attack and the opener greets the offspinner with three boundaries. There were a couple of short deliveries that were pulled away towards the deep mid-wicket region, while a half-volley was driven superbly towards extra cover. Born in Delhi, Raghuvanshi moved to Mumbai at the age of 11 to train under former India all-rounder Abhishek Nayar. Raghuvanshi has raced to 26 off 22 deliveries already.

The 16-year-old smashed Humphreys for three boundaries and is looking in pretty good touch today. The right-hander started with a superb cut shot before working the next two deliveries towards the fine leg region. In the absence of Dhull and Rasheed, Raghuvanshi and Harnoor are going to be crucial for India in this game. Both these batters can score big and Ireland will have to break this stand before it gets too dangerous.
Powered by Froala Editor
The 19-year-old comes from Afghanistan's Jalalabad and has already gone through a lot. The right-arm paceman, who is a massive fan of Brett Lee, crossed the borders of Pakistan, Iran, Turkey, Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia, Italy and France along with other immigrants to reach Ireland. It took him almost nine months and had to travel close to 8,300 km in search of his uncle. He finally made it to Ireland, and fast forward four-five years, here he is living his dream.

Ireland have quite a few spinners in their playing XI and Tector straightaway has gone to Matthew Humphreys. The left-arm spinner started with a short delivery but found his rhythm from the next ball. Just one run from the first over. There will be some pressure on Indian openers Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Harnoor Singh who were dismissed cheaply in the first encounter.

India might miss Dhull in the batting department but Sindhu has enough experience when it comes to captaincy. The spin-bowling all-rounder played a huge role in Haryana clinching the last edition of the Vinoo Mankad Trophy - their first U-19 title in 19 years. It was also under his leadership, Haryana won the U-16 Vijay Merchant Trophy in 2019. Haryana didn’t lose a single game in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy and Sindhu managed to make an impact both with the bat and ball. Apart from scoring 299 runs at 37.38, the left-arm spinner also scalped 12 wickets at a stunning average of 13.16.

Indian captain Yash Dhull has been "rested" for this encounter and Garv Sangwan and Aneeshwar Gautam have been named in the XI. Vice-captain Shaik Rasheed too is not playing. So, India will be without two of their key batters.
Tim Tector: We are going to have a bowl first. The surface is a little moist. Our first game was in Guyana and that was little slow and low. This one has more bounce.
Nishant Sindhu: Yash is resting today. No injuries to him. We won the last game and would take the momentum forward. We would have batted first.

On Tuesday (January 18), India had a practice session at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy ground. Though the session was curtailed due to a few spells of drizzle but whatever time Dhull and Co. were out there, the focus of the coaching staff primarily remained on the batters. The practice pitches had a fair bit of moisture due to a spell of rain just before the start of the training and head coach Hrishikesh Kanitkar asked Harnoor, Dhull and others to bat on those wickets.
Though they did not have to face the main fast bowlers like Rajvardhan Hangargekar and Ravi Kumar but the third-choice seamer Bawa was given an extensive bowl. And the Himachal boy made the ball to talk. He was beating the outside edge of the bat quite frequently. The bowling coach Sairaj Bahutule was seen working overtime with Bawa. Though the medium-pacer took four wickets against South Africa, initially the opponent batters went after him. In the other nets, spinners had long spells, which suggests that India are unlikely to change their bowling strategy, reports Sandipan Banerjee.

Hello and welcome to Cricket.com's live coverage of Match 15 of the 2022 Under-19 World Cup between India and Ireland, which will be played at the picturesque Brian Lara Cricket Academy ground on the outskirts of San Fernando City. Although India registered a comfortable 45-run triumph over South Africa in their opening encounter in the tournament, their top batters barring Yash Dhull failed to get going under testing conditions.
Both openers - Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Harnoor Singh - couldn't reach the double digits and vice-captain Shaik Rasheed along with all-rounders like Nishant Sindhu, Kushal Tambe and Raj Bawa got out after getting their eyes in. As a result, the team could post a below-par total, 232. However, left-arm spinner Vicky Ostwal and paceman Raj took nine wickets between them and helped India bundle out South Africa for 187.
Ireland got the better of Uganda in their opening encounter of the tournament. Wicketkeeper-batter Joshua Cox scored a stunning century before Matthew Humphreys and Co. sealed the game in the second innings, giving Ireland a 39-run victory. Meanwhile, Indian captain Dhull would be looking for more support from his openers to ease the pressure on middle and lower-order going into the knockouts.
