Litton Das named Bangladesh T20I skipper for West Indies series

Litton Das was named official captain of the Bangladesh team for the T20Is against West Indies on December 10 (Tuesday), the same day when the Tigers were playing the second ODI of the three-match 50-over series against the hosts at the Warner Park in St Kitts. 

Das, who has already led Bangladesh in a Test, five ODIs and a lone T20I before being awarded fresh responsibilities, will have no official deputies for the three-match series starting with the first match at the Arnos Vale in St Vincent and the Grenadines on December 15.

The series will also see the return of the likes of Soumya Sarkar, Afif Hossain, Shamim Hossain Patwari, Nasum Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud and Ripon Mondol. Najmul Hossain Shanto, who was the previous captain of the team, is recovering from a groin injury and missed the ODI and Test series of the tour. 

Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who led the side in the Tests and ODIs was not given the responsibility for the T20Is because he is not a regular. Das, being the senior member of the team after the retirements of Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmuddulah, was given the responsibility.  

Among the members of the team that toured India, Towhid Hridoy, Mustafizur Rahman, Shoriful Islam and Rakibul Hasan did not find a place in the squad of the series.
