Follow UsAll eyes were on Kathmandu Gurkhas on December 15 (Sunday), as their result against Biratnagar Kings could have altered Chitwan Rhinos' Nepal Premier League (NPL) 2024 campaign. The Gurkhas needed a massive win to prevent the Rhinos from making it through, but their one-wicket win in a low-scoring encounter helped the Rhinos make it through.
Rhinos eded with eight points from seven games. They currently sit in third place and their eventual position will be decided after Karnali Yaks' match against Sudurpaschim Royals on December 16 (Monday). If the Yaks win, they will go third, with the Rhinos dropping to fourth.
The Kushal Malla-led Rhinos got off to a superb start in the tournament with three wins in their first four matches but managed to win just one of their next three. Their campaign so far has been built around their bowling, led by left-arm pacers Sohail Tanvir and Rijan Dhakal, who have 25 wickets between them.
From their batting point of view, Ravi Bopara has been the most consistent batter with 233 runs at 38.83. Malla finally scored some runs in the do-or-die game against the Janakpur Bolts, hitting 72 of 41.
The Rhinos will be in action next on December 18 (Wednesday), where they will, in all likelihood, play the Eliminator, which will begin at 8.45 AM IST.
