KKR bowlers mixed it up really well - Vyshak

Vyshak was the lone saving grace amongst the RCB pacers on a night when nothing worked for them

RCB's Vijaykumar Vyshak came in as an impact substitute in the game against KKR. He justified his inclusion by bowling an economical spell of 23/1 in four overs on a day where the other three frontline pacers, Mohammed Siraj, Yash Dayal and Alzarri Joseph, combined to leak 126 runs in just nine overs.

Vyshak’s success was reflected in his observations of the KKR pacers and how they used their slower deliveries.

“In the first innings, they mixed it up very well. It was difficult to score from their bouncers, which were slower ones. I knew that if I put it there, nobody could score. I just thought I’d do that: mix up my variations with some yorkers, hard lengths and bouncers. I was just trying to mix up with the pace. I think that’s what helped me, ” Vyshak said.

The Karnataka pacer also felt that KKR batters found it easy to chase down the target given to them due to the high pace of the RCB bowlers.

“It was a little easier to bat in the second innings, as the ball was coming on to the bat nicely because of the dew. We also had a bit more pace than them, so it helped them.”

He also remarked on how being exposed to some serious overseas talent has helped his bowling: “I’ve been learning from all the new players coming in. Working together with players such as Alzarri [Joseph], [David] Wiese, [Cameron] Green, and Lockie [Ferguson] has helped my bowling quite a bit.”
