Kashvee Gautam, who was the most expensive uncapped Indian player in the Women's Premier League (WPL) auction in December, has been ruled out of the upcoming second edition owing to an injury. Gujarat Giants, who had secured the services of Kashvee for INR 2 crore, have named Mumbai's Sayali Sathgare as a replacement at a reserve price of INR 10 lakhs.
India All-rounder Kanika Ahuja too, is ruled out of the WPL 2024 owing to an injury. The Royal Challengers Bangalore have named Shradda Pokharkar, Maharashtra’s left-arm fast bowler as a replacement. She has been signed at a reserve price of INR 10 lakhs.
Gautam made a lot of headlines during the U23 Women's Championship after being an integral part of India's Emerging Asia Cup victory. At the auction, Gujarat Giants started the bidding war before Royal Challengers Bangalore wanted her services, driving the price up within seconds. In the span of the next few seconds, her price went up from INR 10 lakhs to over 50 lakhs, which made the world turn their notice on the pacer. She was eventually sold for 2 Cr with UP Warriorz fighting tooth and nail to get her on board.
Meanwhile, Ahuja made her debut in the Asian Games in Hangzhou but couldn't contribute much with the bat. But she is hailed as a wonderful prospect for the future after her performance in the Emerging Asia Cup that India won. Her replacement, Shradda Pokharkar, was already a part of the RCB camp as a net bowler and the franchise found it easy to onboard her services.
Sayali Satghare has been a regular part of Mumbai's domestic side and led the side in the 2021 Women's Senior One Day Trophy after injury forced Shweta Haranhalli out of the side.
