Josh Hazlewood’s concerns with injury continue, with the 33-year-old walking off the field on day four of the third Test at the Gabba. While the exact reason is still unknown, the pacer just bowled the one over on the day when he wasn’t looking 100% and was gingerly moving back to his mark.
In that one over, Hazlewood bowled at the Gabba, he conceded six runs, including a wide long hop to kick the over off, which showed he wasn’t 100%. Soon after, the pacer had a conversation with skipper Pat Cummins, Steve Smith and physio Nick Jones before walking off the field.
"Josh Hazlewood reported calf awareness in this morning's warm-up," a CA spokesperson told ESPNCricinfo. "He will be taken for scans to assess the injury."
Hazlewood accounted for Kohli on day three for the 11th time in his international career and looked threatening in that spell. It remains to be seen if the New South Wales star will play any further part in this Test. But his absence could prove to be costly for Australia, considering that they are literally fighting against rain and time to win the Test.
Hazlewood didn’t even take the field at the start of day four’s play, with Josh Inglis taking the field instead. The 33-year-old in the series has already missed the Adelaide Test with a ‘low grade left side injury’. Scott Boland put on a show at his expense, moving the pink ball all over the place in Adelaide, and he will be on standby at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), where he's already earned himself a 'cult status'.
