After Saurabh Tiwary’s retirement, Jharkhand named Ishan Kishan as the new captain for the upcoming edition of the Ranji Trophy. The left-handed batter started the domestic season strong with a century in the Buchi Babu trophy but, since then, has lacked consistency with just one century in three games.
It could be a prime opportunity for Kishan to show his worth after he was snubbed from a national contract earlier this year. He hasn’t been picked in any of India’s squads since then across the formats.
Virat Singh, who has been a consistent performer for Jharkhand has been elevated as the state’s vice-captain. Meanwhile, there will be a lot more eyeballs on Kumar Kushagra this season after his showing in last year’s tournament. Anukul Roy, too, has found a place for himself in the setup.
Squad: Ishan Kishan (capt), Virat Singh (vice-capt), Kumar Kushagra (wk), Nazim Siddique, Aryaman Sen, Sharandeep Singh, Kumar Suraj, Anukul Roy, Utkarsh Singh, Supriyo Chakraborty, Saurabh Shekhar, Vikas Kumar, Vivekanand Tiwary, Manishi, Ravi Kumar Yadav, Raunak Kumar
