Northern Superchargers have secured a last-minute deal with Jemimah Rodrigues, as the injured Heather Graham has been ruled out of the tournament. This ensures that the talented Mumbaikar will be turning up for the Superchargers for the third consecutive time in the Women's Hundred competition.
The Superchargers had decided not to retain Rodrigues for the 2023 edition, but as soon as the opening game came, they decided to dial her up once again. However, her outstanding performance as the second-highest run-scorer in the inaugural season of the Hundred, along with her commendable record in England, led to her return to the team.
With this inclusion, Rodrigues becomes the fourth Indian player to feature in the competition, joining the ranks of Richa Ghosh (London Spirit), Harmanpreet Kaur (Trent Rockets), and Smriti Mandhana (Southern Brave).
"I'm so excited to be back in The Hundred," Rodrigues said in a press release. "It's a world-class competition and I've had so much taking part in it previously. I was very disappointed to have to withdraw last year through injury, so it's great to be back. Headingley is a brilliant ground to play at, with great fans, and I can't wait to be back out there."
On the other hand, Cricket Australia has made a last-minute decision to withdraw Alyssa Healy and Ellyse Perry from the women's Hundred. This decision comes in the aftermath of Healy suffering a new fracture to her left index finger and Perry sustaining a left knee injury, which kept her off the field during the second innings on Tuesday.
