IPL 2025: 3 Batting Records That Can Never Be Broken

Even if batting has become so friendly, there are these three records that can never be broken

Batting has become quite easy in the Indian Premier League (IPL), but even in this landscape, some records will never be broken, even if the scores are closing in on 300.

Let’s not waste too much time. What are the three batting records that can never be broken?

Highest individual score in IPL history

Batting has become too easy, but even then, Chris Gayle smashing 175 is something that doesn’t happen normally. Now more than ever, because of the impact player rule, which now puts all the pressure on the batters to maximise.

So, one single batter scoring 175 wouldn’t even be on the cards. Since the introduction of the impact player rule, the highest individual score has been Marcus Stoinis’ 124* off 63 balls. While there have been multiple centurions since then, the possibility of someone scoring 175 isn’t on the cards.

Lowest total in an IPL match

Yet again, the batting climate is such that the possibility of a team getting bowled out for 49 seems to be unthinkable. The lowest-ever total across the last two editions of IPL has been Gujarat Titans (GT), who could only score 89 in their clash against Delhi Capitals (DC) in 2024.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) record of getting 49 all-out against KKR back in 2017 at the Eden Gardens can just go unmatched.

Highest powerplay score in an IPL innings

125/0 in six overs.

That’s almost 20.8 runs an over. Sunrisers Hyderabad openers Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head absolutely smashed the leather against Delhi Capitals, with 24 boundaries in the first six-over phase.

Something like that happening is already rare, but when you think about the possibility of it happening for the second time, you will realise how LUDACRIOUS the record is.
