Fast bowlers Mohsin Khan and Mukesh Choudhary, who made their Indian Premier League (IPL) debut in 2022 for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are set to miss the majority of the season if not all of it. According to a report on ESPNCricinfo, Mohsin is believed to be nursing a shoulder injury. He underwent a surgery to remove blood clots on his shoulder and while he is batting, he has not yet bowled as he is still looking to strengthen his bowling shoulder.
Choudhary is however at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) where he is under rehabilitation as he continues to recover from his back injury.
"We are waiting on Mukesh but we do not have much hope. He was one of our bowling mainstays last year. It will be unfortunate if he misses out," CSK CEO told Cricbuzz.
Mohsin had an impressive first season with LSG where he picked up 14 wickets at an economy rate of under six as the franchise made it to the playoffs in their debut season. Choudhary, on the other hand, struck 16 times in 13 games, conceding 9.31 an over.
Mohsin is hoping to play in the tournament at some point given that he is currently training with LSG in Lucknow. However, the same cannot be said about Choudhary, whose season hangs in a balance.
The IPL 2023 kicks off on March 31 with Gujarat Gians (GT) taking on CSK in the tournament opener in Ahmedabad.
