Injury rules South Africa’s Baartman out of Johannesburg ODI against Pakistan

Corbin Bosch has been included in the squad as his replacement for the third and final ODI

South Africa suffered yet another injury in their series against Pakistan. Having lost Keshav Maharaj already, they were denied the services of pacer Ottneil Baartman for the third and final ODI of the series as he was ruled out of the Johannesburg game on December 20 (Friday).

Baartman has been replaced by Corbin Bosch, another pacer, who has also been added to the Test squad for the two-match Test series against Pakistan, beginning with the Boxing Day Test at Centurion on December 26.

Baartman who played in the first ODI and bowled seven overs to finish with figures of 2/37, was not able to play in the second game as he got injured while practising in the nets ahead of the second ODI in Cape Town.

Bosch, who has been chosen as Baartman’s replacement, has so far taken 37 wickets in 31 List-A matches. The right-arm fast bowler has played 34 First-Class matches as well.

Pakistan, having won the first two ODIs in Paarl and Capetown, have already taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series
