India registered their joint-highest powerplay score in the third and final T20I against Bangladesh at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on October 12 (Saturday).
At the end of six overs, the Men in Blue were 82/1. They scored the same number of runs against Scotland in Dubai during the 2021 T20 World Cup.
Opting to bat first, India lost Abhishek Sharma for just 4 runs but that’s when Sanju Samson and Suryakumar Yadav went berserk.
Samson, who smashed Taskin Ahmed for four boundaries in the second over, whacked Mustafizur Rahman for a six and a four in the fourth over.
Taskin Ahmed then conceded 16 in the next over before SKY finished the powerplay with three fours and a six against Tanzim Hasan Sakib.
India smacked 15 boundaries in the powerplay, the joint-most they have hit in the first six overs of a T20I. They hit the same number of boundaries against New Zealand in Auckland in 2021.
This was also the fourth-most number of runs Bangladesh have conceded in the T20I powerplay.
That’s not it. India also went past the 100-run mark in just 7.1 overs, the quickest they have reached triple figures in the 20-over format. They got to 100 against the West Indies in eight overs in 2019.
