India A's third unofficial Test against South Africa A ended in a drab draw as the teams ended the three-match series 0-0. Two of India A's support staff initially tested positive for covid-19 before the fourth and final day's play began on Thursday causing a concern, but the match went ahead after the repeat test was negative.
As per BCCI sources, the match would have been called off midway had the repeat tests also turned out to be positive and after it was confirmed that it was a false alarm, the authorities decided to go ahead with the proceedings.
India A were 90 for 3 in 17 overs chasing 304 before the play was called off after South Africa A declared their second innings at 311/3. Zubayr Hamza's 125 top-scored for the home team while spinner Krishnappa Gowtham claimed two wickets.
Opener Prithvi Shaw scored a brisk 38 off 34 balls before dismissed.
Arzan Nagwaswalla, Navdeep Saini, Deepak Chahar and spinner Saurabh Kumar are set to stay back as standbys while captain Hanuma Vihari returned to the senior squad after being overlooked for the New Zealand series at home.
