Ravichandran Ashwin’s international career might have officially come to an end, but the 38-year-old is far from done as a cricketer.
Talking to reporters outside his residence after returning home, Ashwin asserted that he aspires to play ‘as long as possible’ for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), who bought him for INR 9.75 crore at the Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction last month.
"I'm going to play for CSK, and don't be surprised if I aspire to play as long as I can,” Ashwin said.
He further confirmed that while his chapter as an Indian cricketer has ended, he still has plenty left in the tank, hinting that, apart from IPL, he might also play domestic cricket.
"I don't think Ashwin the cricketer is done, Ashwin the Indian cricketer has called it a time, that's it."
On December 18 (Wednesday), Ashwin announced shock retirement from international cricket, minutes after the conclusion of the third Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test.
He revealed in the same chat with the reporters that he’d finalised the decision to retire on the fourth day of the same Test.
