On Friday (November 10), the International Cricket Council (ICC) suspended Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC)’s membership with immediate effect.
“The ICC Board met today and determined that Sri Lanka Cricket is in serious breach of its obligations as a Member, in particular, the requirement to manage its affairs autonomously and ensure that there is no government interference in the governance, regulation and/or administration of cricket in Sri Lanka,” said ICC in a statement.
“The ICC Board will decide the conditions of the suspension in due course,” it added.
Only last week, on account of corruption, the entire board was dismissed before being reinstated the very next week. It is said that the suspension has been on the back of interference from the government. Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) also faced a similar suspension, which banned them from the 2021 T20 World Cup in the Middle East.
